History

In 1965 three like minded ladies Renee Crane, Jo Hewitt and Nan Eveson met to discuss their belief in the 'afterlife'. They decided they would hold a meeting to test the interest, if any, of the local community. They booked the local council hall as their venue and invited internation medium Gordon Higginson to give a demonstration of clairvoyance. The event was the advertised in the local press. The ladies were worried that the evening would 'flop' particularly as the weather that evening was wet and windy. Several people turned up outside the entrance door to heckle but this did not deter people and before long the hall was filled to capacity. The evening was a  huge success with many people receiving messages from their loved ones in the world of spirit. The local press had been invited and the following week they wrote a wonderfully positive review (the reporter had been given a message!)

This evening had become the launch of Bromsgrove Spiritualist Church. The beginnings were humble, meeting in rented rooms over shops, pubs, a gymnasium and even a British Legion Cellar! Eventually enough money was raised to put a deposit on our own church building which is where we still are today.

The building we brought was an old church building which had become in a very poor state of repair but over the years we have fundraised hard to bring the building into the excellent condition it is in today. We still have a large mortgage on our building which is paid for entirely by donation.  Our church is a happy place which we all love.  Why not come to visit us? A warm welcome is given to all.
